Kate Tova & Johanna Seidel

Welcome to Adele Delivers, where I deliver two of my favorite contemporary artists right to your inbox every Friday. Here’s to fostering a deeper connection with art, one artist at a time.

Kate Tova

In her own words, "Growing up in authoritarian rural Russia, I could only experience freedom through painting." Now happily rooted in San Francisco, Kate’s passion for Bay Area nature and technology seamlessly blends with her fashion-forward sensibilities and joie de vivre creating a fun fusion of art and style. Kate Tova is renowned for her "Glitches," made by rendering her personal snapshots into 3D "digital bouquets," which serve as reference images for her sculptural paintings. Learn more about Kate and her sidekick Toochi here.

Johanna Seidel

Johanna Seidel's painting style is a process of revelation, like the canvas is giving up secrets to her over time. She doesn't disturb it too much, brushing on translucent layers like the light touch of a Ouija board, uncovering stories of a sisterhood with nature. Composite characters are discovered frozen in time, muted like a dimensional veil exists between us and them. Learn more about Johanna here.

Thank you for being here and for growing old with me; the best is yet to be… Here’s a thought to ponder until we meet again next Friday.

“We seldom realize, for example, that our most private thoughts and emotions are not actually our own. For we think in terms of languages and images which we did not invent, but which were given to us by our society.”

Alan Watts
