Adele Delivers

Agnieszka Pilat & Randal Roberts

Welcome to Adele Delivers, an email with concise descriptions of Adele Gilani’s favorite artists to rouse your creative spirit and deepen your relationship with art one artist at a time.

Agnieszka Pilat

Agnieszka uses traditions from religious symbolism and royal portraiture to teach robots to paint and in turn, the robots teach her their way of movement and creating art. In her own words, "I seek to show (the robot's) dignity, challenging the superiority complex of some human viewers. By working in a robotic vernacular, I hope that the paintings will appeal to machines – cultivating their appreciation of art – and that they might become my patrons." Randal Roberts

I first met Randal Roberts in Summer '07 at the Omega Institute where we became fast friends. A memorable experience: witnessing bioluminescent dinoflagellates for the first time at Mauntauk, just the kind of thing that happens when you’re hangin’ with Randal. Randal’s artist statement differs from the norm because it’s a pledge, one that commits to doing his best work for the highest good and to practice his art as a way of awakening himself and others.

Technically speaking, Randal is part of the Visionary Art Movement. Randal first gained recognition for his portraits, which depict the sacred nature of characters such as Homer Simpson and Fawkes. Learn more about Randal here.
