My daughter's obsession with princesses drew me to Zoe Hawk's paintings, which for me, are all about princesses growing up. Despite the initial impression of gentle young ladies in theater-like backdrops, their complexity calmly presents itself, unfolding over time, varying with your own age and your own changing identity. Jason Engelund

To drive is to meditate, to propel yourself through time and space, observing and letting go of your surroundings, breathing life into your basal ganglia and cerebellum, letting the subconscious awaken. Jason Engelund drives a motorcycle and when he does, he takes photos which he then prints and paints with the colors and sounds that coursed through his body while cruising down the highway.
