Adele Delivers

Rebecca Ness & Laura Footes

Merry Christmas and welcome to Adele Delivers, where I deliver two of my favorite contemporary artists right to your inbox every Friday. Here’s to fostering a deeper connection with art, one artist at a time.

Rebecca Ness

Remember when all we ever wanted was a chance to sit squished between friends, listen to music in a shared space, touch hands or even be alone with our phones in the company of others? For more than a year of our lives, we were separated from people we love. We had to talk to them through windows or screens. Do you remember that? And now it's the holiday season. It's time to make up for lost time, to meet up with friends and family and share space with one another.

Rebecca’s work depicts everyday life with an attitude of gratitude. She includes herself in most of her work. Can you find Rebecca, your newest artist friend, out in the crowd? Learn more about Rebecca here.

Laura Footes

Laura was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at age 13 and these out-of-body images reflect her perception and experience of her own body- a place where organs and bones can be inside or outside, a porous vessel for memories and hardships to pass through. Laura's work reminds me of this Sufi aphorism, "You are in the soul," describing an existence within a soul rather than a soul confined within the body- where two souls can intersect and create a third.
