Ferrari Sheppard & Lindsey Brittain Collins

Happy Black History Month and welcome to Adele Delivers, where I deliver two of my favorite contemporary artists right to your inbox every Friday. This month Iā€™m focussing on Black artists. Hereā€™s to fostering a deeper connection with art, one artist at a time. If the spirit moves you, forward this art delivery to a friend.

Ferrari Sheppard

Ferrariā€™s art is visual jazz, improvisational- like a leap of faith, blurring the line between figurative and abstract. Ferrari is interested in capturing the energy of his subject and in his words, ā€œIā€™ve noticed that more than anything, the figures are representative of me. I am exposing myself through my lines, through my compositional decisions and my memories.ā€ Learn more about Farrari here.

Lindsey Brittain Collins

Lindsey makes kaleidoscopic maps of Black spaces. The blue tape represents people in the community while photographs of architecture are cut, reorganized, and locations abstracted to depict how white spaces are embedded in the architecture surrounding her- often built by Black people but not for Black people, while Black spaces are ephemeral, always moving, always changing. Lindsey is interested in the way history, economic systems, and architecture shape our lives. Learn more about Lindsey here.Ā

Thank you for being here! Signing off with an article I wrote for The Hungry about how to deepen your studio practice with effective time management.šŸ‘‡ Enjoy! XxA
