Nic Dyer & Matt Bollinger

Welcome to Adele Delivers, where I deliver two of my favorite contemporary artists right to your inbox every Friday. Here’s to fostering a deeper connection with art, one artist at a time.

Nic Dyer

Nic started removing foods from their diet at age 11, signaling the onset of disordered eating. Nic says "As my food list shrank, my paintings ballooned: domestic landscapes crowded with health books and food wrappers and children’s toys, the paint itself bloated with glitter and candy and sea glass." In recent 3D paintings, Nic includes fairytale imagery to address the temptation of food in stories like Little Red Riding Hood and Adam and Eve. Nic wants to challenge false narratives portraying food as inherently evil and to help people heal as they navigate thier own ongoing recovery. Learn more about Nic here.

Matt Bollinger

In Matt’s paintings, people look tired from working hard, presumably to achieve the American Dream. The looming shadows and foreboding colors hint at a challenging road ahead. Matt’s work pairs well with “The Suburbs” by Arcade Fire. Learn more about Matt here. While you’re at it, check out his hand-painted stop-motion videos.

Until Next time…

Thank you for being here! Just for fun, listen to The 100 Greatest Songs of 2023 according to my piano teacher and several of his audiophile friends. It’s so good! Glamorous Euphoria In Spite of It All: The Best Songs of 2023

I’ll sign off with an idea I’ve been thinking about lately “People are oddly consistent. Karma is just you, repeating your patterns, virtues, and flaws until you finally get what you deserve.” What do you think? - From The Almanack of Naval Ravikant (Thank you, Recomendo!), XxA
