April White & Andrea Bergen

Worms, crumbs, rhinestones and all...

Happy Yom Kippur, Indigenous Peoples weekend, and welcome to Adele Delivers, where I deliver two of my favorite contemporary artists right to your inbox each Friday. Here’s to fostering a deeper connection with art, one artist at a time.

April White

I know April was around sewing when she was a kid. We have the same dad but her mom, not mine, loved to sew and April also loves to sew. Ultimately she grew up to become a self-attuned felt wizard and her textile spells are more powerful all the time. Her work is feminist, soft like a teddy bear and tells a story about the state of the world and her heart - with humor, dedication, and hope. Learn more about April here. And shop her work here.

Andrea Bergen

Andrea makes these wild animals out of hand-cut paper - worms, crumbs, rhinestones and all. In Andrea’s words, “I view the animals as my avatars. They rampage, vandalize, and gorge on whatever they want. These are the things I do not do, they are free in a way that I am not.” Learn more about Andrea here.

Podcast keeping me company: I learned about The Blindboy Podcast while researching Lauren dela Rocha for last week’s Art Delivery. She’s a superfan and now I am too. Check out one of my favorite episodes, The History of Money with David McWilliams

Thank you for being here! Wishing you a restful long weekend. Till soon. XxA
