Art of the Playa

Burning Man and Beyond

As I shift away from my physical gallery, I’m changing my email approach to bring art right to you. Experience a fresh email journey with weekly art delivered directly to your inbox! - Adele Gilani

Burning Man is this week and oh, how I wish I was there! The following artists are Burning Man icons, seamlessly extending their larger-than-life themes from the Playa to the real world through their remarkable artistry.

Nick Napoletano

Nick Napoletano initially caught my eye (literally!) in 2018 when he painted my eyes on the side of an RV at Burning Man. Yep, these peepers are mine! It’s been amazing watching him paint spectacular murals all over the planet over the last decade. Nobody does eyes quite like Nick. Learn more about Nick and contact him for mural inquiries here.

Olivia Steele

On the first day, God said, 'Let there be light!' and with that, the stardust within Olivia Steele's bones came to life. Introducing Olivia Steele, painter of light.

Olivia describes her work best: “Now I’ve come to the conclusion that everything does and does not happen for a reason, as cliché as that may sound. My life certainly started outside the comfort zone. The only thing I can be sure of is that you can be sure of nothing. Security is one big illusion, and life is one big test. My art is simply a reflection of me in my attempts to make sense of it all.” Learn more about Olivia Steele here.

Android Jones

I've been following Android Jones since 2014 when he digitally painted my portrait during a Corel Painter workshop in Oakland (Thanks Randal!). In that 7-hour session, he not only explored the spiritual themes he’s known for but also shared his vast wisdom, skills and tools for digital artistry. Android Jones is the GOAT when it comes to digital painting, having even contributed to the development of the tools he uses. Learn more about Android Jones here.
