Bridget Watson Payne & Lauren dela Roche

Garden of Eden

Welcome to Adele Delivers, where I deliver two of my favorite contemporary artists right to your inbox each Friday. Here’s to fostering a deeper connection with art, one artist at a time.

Bridget Watson Payne

Bridget is an author and artist who paints quotidian things- I had to look up the word. It means ordinary, everyday, mundane. I subscribe to her newsletter which quite often includes a fun mixed tape. Here’s an excerpt from her most recent letter:

So much of what we see is also seen by other people every day. And yes, these details connect us, deeply and abundantly… The laying down of beauty—no matter how mundane, how miniscule—by one person, and the picking it up by another. This is an act of love.” Learn more about Bridget here.

Lauren dela Roche

This Midwestern farmer is a self-taught artist who paints on antique feed bags and is a NYC art scene darling. Her work is a Garden of Eden painted as if each painting is her last chance to say what it is she wants to say. Flowers, playing cards, fountains, suns, twins, and angels radiate from a singular female form, reminding us of the interconnected and mystical nature of life. Learn more about Lauren here.

New Segment: “What am I looking at?”

Check out the painting below and reply to this email with your reaction- how it makes you feel, what it reminds you of, what it makes you think about... I’ll post my three favorite responses in an upcoming Art Delivery. (Keep answers around a paragraph or two. Include your name or initials as you want them listed.)

“Old Town” by Matthew Wong

Thank you for being here. I look forward to your responses about the Matthew Wong painting. Enjoy another beautiful October weekend! “Time flies, but shadows tell the story.” -☀️📐 Till soon. XxA
