Welcome to Adele Delivers, where I deliver two of my favorite contemporary artists right to your inbox each Friday. Hereā€™s to fostering a deeper connection with art, one artist at a time.

Anne Samat

Anne uses humble materials like polyester, garden rakes, and colanders to craft majestic relief sculptures that honor her Malaysian heritage and authentic self. Rooted in the tradition of Malaysian weaving, which draws inspiration from ancestral visions received in dreams, Anne reimagines the art form, abandoning the constraints of the loom and traditional materials like silk and wool to shape a dialogue between past and present. Wes Lang

Wesā€™s body of work is massive (his most ambitious series is 96 paintings and 96 drawings!), driven by an enduring obsession that began with losing a prized sticker as a kindergartener and evolved into a lifelong pursuit of a visual language that examines mortality, desire, and the essence of being human. To encounter his work is to witness the ongoing unraveling of egoā€”his genuine and earnest goalā€”teaching us how to get what we want out of life. Learn more about Wes here.

An Essay thatā€™s been on my mind: Thereā€™s No Place Like Home, Whatever That Is by: Jeannette Cooperman ā€œOdd, to see oneā€™s house as oneā€™s mother. But just as home calls up thoughts of family, it can also substitute for family. A locked door that opens only to you? Rooms that offer the consolations of food and sleep without demanding your credit card? A home offers its own limited version of unconditional love.ā€
