Kayla Mahaffey, Merrick Adams & Hallie Packard

šŸ’Œ Art Delivery #79

Welcome to Adele Delivers, where I deliver two of my favorite contemporary artists right to your inbox. Our community has grown so much since we first started 18 months ago that a lot of you have missed some of my favorite artists. Hereā€™s some evergreen content featuring new work by these visionaries- and one artist I havenā€™t shared, so three this week!  Hereā€™s to fostering a deeper connection with art, one artist at a time.

Kayla Mahaffey

Kayla Mahaffey, born on the South Side of Chicago in 1994, contrasts a harsh wild world with the imagination and innocence of a child. In Kaylaā€™s words, ā€œMy work reflects how the city directly affects our youth and how they in return react when they are cared for and also when they are not.ā€ Learn more about Kayla Mahaffey here.

Merrick Adams

Merrick Adams is inspired by Alfred Korzybskiā€™s idea that "a map is not the territory it represents...ā€ meaning our perceptions, thoughts and language about reality are not reality itself. Merrick uses net to remove paint from the canvas, revealing layers of paint underneath to create a vision of the sea. Learn more about Merrick here.

Hallie Packard

Hallie is a master rainbow painter, reminding us of the magic all around us, fleeting as it may be, when weā€™re still enough to notice. Learn more about Hallie here.

Thank you for being here. Wednesday I went to the library alone, no kids in tow. I took my time choosing books. It was like an afternoon at the spa. Try it! Till soon. XxA

What Iā€™m reading: I just finished reading this long-form article about the Zizians. The early chapters remind me of when I first moved to San Francisco- all the things I was curious about like singularity and sea-steading. What starts as familiar territory quickly takes many creepy twists and turns. This article will keep you on the edge of your seat.

If you like to run you might love the Runcast Podcast by John Richards- monthly playlists for your workouts.

Thereā€™s some great advice in here about how to like things more.
