Sarah Miska & Georgia Beaumont

Pink Pony Club

Welcome back to Adele Delivers, where I deliver two of my favorite contemporary artists right to your inbox each Friday. Here’s to fostering a deeper connection with art, one artist at a time.

As I share my 100th artist, I want to say thank you for being here. I hope these art deliveries work like a weekly tarot reading, helping you connect the dots in your own life, feel seen, understood and hungry for more.

In this newsletter, I tell you what the work means to me, and sometimes that aligns with the artist’s intention, sometimes not. But really, my hope is that you get to thinking about what these artists mean to you. How does their work help you reflect on your own life? Again, thank you for being here, and cheers to 100 more.

Sarah Miska

When I see Sarah’s work, I think of Chappelle Roan’s Pink Pony Club. At first glance, her work is equestrian and conservative but it’s also meant to be kinky. In her words, “The sport is all bridles, harnesses, bits, leather. My work can seem incredibly conservative on the surface, but it’s meant to be moderately sexual.” Learn more about Sarah here.

Georgia Beaumont

I’m drawn to Georgia’s work because it’s such an honest representation of plant life or life - the way she sees it. It can be hard to paint something as simple as a clover in a way that’s interesting, true to the artist, and not a cartoon to the viewer. In Georgia’s work, the rough outlines of the leaves feel precise but not manicured with orbs and bands of color like light-bodies pointing to the auras or chakras of plants. The mirrored shapes suggest codependence with each other or connection to another self. Learn more about Georgia here.

This is the song I’m talking about, Pink Pony Club. Starts slow but keep listening!

For all the story-tellers out there, here’s a list of Pixar’s Story Rules. Thanks TF

Thank you for being here! I can’t believe we’re 100 artists deep already. When I started writing art deliveries, I only had 40 artists on my spreadsheet. Now I have 100 on my “posted” tab and 163 left to go- needless to say, this snowball is growing and it’s because of you. Thank you for the inspiration. Till soon. XxA
